Compass for the Heart

"The compass will always show you the right direction, so you will stop relying on your own guesses. Like this, wherever you are, you have this sense that shows you the truth." - Ajahn Chah

Shouldn't you seek light in Darkness?

Why is there laughter?
Why is there joy when the world is on fire?

Since you are clouded in darkness
Should'nt you,
seek the light?

Dhammapada 146

Suffering (darkness) is the nature of unawakened humanity.
One moon-day observance(Uposatha)evening Ajahn Chah sat on the Dhamma seat and
began his discourse by saying, “Don’t feel bad if you are suffering.
Everyone suffers”
.

It helps to remember that. Ajahn Chah suffered; the Buddha suffered. What was different about them was they knew that this suffering is not an obligation
– it is only one of the options available in this realm.

There is also the possibility of accessing the realm of non-suffering (light).

Of all the frangrances - sandal, tagara, blue lotus & jasmine - the fragance of virtue is by far the sweetest.
